Its a tiny bit thin sounding at low volume, but as you crank that amp it just gets sweeter and sweeter. One thing about that amp is you have to keep the power supply tight. From 1976-80 there were minor parts changes and later on the amp got a bit more of buzzy distortion. Being 100 watts, this thing is LOUD. I would even venture to say that its the loudest amp Marshall has ever made. I have a JMP Super Bass from 1980 (4 holes) no MV, but I can jumper the two channels. I also have a 1980 Park (4 holer) w/ an added MV. I don't think the JMP master volume had the extra gain-stage. There were are few different types of JMP's in 1980 and like all marshall's each one sounds a little bit different. In 1980 , Marshall started using a bigger logo.
